A new Radar Tower is erected on the northern side of the airfield. It is promulgated at 92ft. AGL
Position is, 037 degs true. 1330 M from ARP.
Obstruction Lights. Cooling Towers close south of Airfield, Lights u/s.
WIND FARMS. There are a number of offshore wind farms to the North and N.East of Manston.
Two of these will become TRANSPONDER MANDATORY ZONES (TMZ) on 17th November 2011.
First. The THANET ARRAY.(already constructed) Approx 10 Nm N.E. of the airfield. Consisting of 100 turbines at 450ft AMSL.
Second. The LONDON ARRAY. (under construction) approx 12 Nm N. of the airfield. Consisting of an initial 150 turbines at 450ft AMSL
( followed later by another 150.) These wind farms are in the Manston PRIMARY RADAR surveillance area and present significant radar clutter.

OLYMPIC 2012. Manston is ouside the "restricted zone" (just), but many of the popular destinations are inside. (An approved flight plan to go to Headcorn??)
